The mediating effect of social support in the relationship between psychological loneliness and life satisfaction of the elderly women living alone

Abstract
This study attempted to verify the mediating effect of social support in the relationship between psychological loneliness and life satisfaction of the elderly women living alone. This study collected data from 300 people from July 1 to August 31, 2022, of which 290 people were used for analysis. For data analysis, frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation, and structural equation analysis were performed. As a result of the analysis, first, it was confirmed that the loneliness of the elderly women living alone had a significant negative (-) effect on life satisfaction, and it was confirmed that social support and life satisfaction had a significant (+) effect on the positive (+) direction. Second, it was possible to confirm the mediating effect of social support in the relationship between loneliness and life satisfaction of the elderly women living alone, and the influence of economic status, a socio-demographic characteristic, was confirmed. Based on this, it is significant in that it suggests ways to improve the life satisfaction of the elderly women living alone.
