Overview of Cognitive Therapy for People at Risk State for Psychosis

Abstract

|
At risk state for psychosis, ¡®¡®putative prodromal state¡±, is an emerging concept for prevention and early intervention for psychotic disorder. Recently, cognitive therapy is being tried by several pioneering clinicians in this field. This overview has focused on several topics of rationales of cognitive therapy for people at risk; summaries of efficacy and limitations of the cognitive therapy for people at the early initial prodromal state and ultra-high risk for psychosis. The cognitive therapy may be suitable alternative strategy for people at risk for psychosis for the reduction of current symptoms and distress, and the prevention of transition into psychosis.
