Women¡¯s Participation to Economic Activities Before and After Delivery and Use of Postpartum Care Center
Seo Sang-Yun

Abstract
This study intended to investigate whether delivery women`s participation to economic activity differs before and after delivery, also use of a postpartum care center. A number of researches insisted that the delivery prevented women from returning for a work, however previous studies provide not enough statistical results derived from empirical research regarding women`s economic activities after delivery. Hence, this study provides statistical approach derived from 2015 Korean Healthcare Panel Survey. This study results showed that the women`s participation to economic activities decreased from 47% to 24% after delivery. However, fortunately this ratio have increased slightly by annual. In addition, this ratio of returning workplace after delivery depends on worker`s job stability. A full-time worker`s return ratio is higher than a part-time worker`s return ratio. Also, we investigated the use of postpartum care center from the year of 2008 to 2013. The delivery women`s use of postpartum care center increased significantly from 30% in the year of 2008 to 52% in the year of 2013. However, the ratio of using postpartum care center from the first quartile of household income was lower significantly than its by the fifth quartile of household income. Thus, we suggest that the government needs to make a support program for maternity women concerning household income, because there are not enough programs for vulnerable household.
