Estimating the Cost of Social Loss for Night Work

Abstract
Purpose : This study estimated the cost of social loss due to night work based on the results of previous studies and special health checkups.

Methods : In 2017 and 2018, based on the actual number of people who actually took special health checkups due to night shifts, we looked at the losses in terms of individuals, businesses, and society. Among these, individuals and social losses were estimated.

Results : The cost of social loss due to night work was estimated. The estimated amount was 448,957,481,610 won in 2017 and 474,721,824,613 won in 2018.

Conclusion : Through this study, additional research is needed on the number of night work days affecting health problems in Korea. In addition, it is necessary to study the social health as well as physical and mental health of night work.
