Abstract

Uvulopharyngopalatoplasty(UPPP) is the one of the major modality for treatment of obstructive sleep apnea(OSA), and is generally combined with tonsillectomy. However, because oral appliances and maxillomandibular advancement are frequently used in the department of dentistry, it is seldom applied to the treatment of OSA. A 27-yearold male complained of moderate OSA, and undergone UPPP and tonsillectomy with genioplasty. After surgery, apnea-hyponea index(AHI) and respiratory disturbance index(RDI) showed normal range, and OSA was treated postoperatively. UPPP combined with tonsillectomy and genioplasty might be an effective surgical modality for treatment of OSA.
